The Importance of REIA Meetups

Now more than often we hear the alarm bells ringing on how technology (especially social-media) is having a negative effect on children’s social skills.  Though not quite analogous, it bears some reference to what we face in our industry. Yes, MyRE360 might be a startup looking to facilitate a streamlined experience for investors in the Real Estate market, it is important to stress that technology has its place, however, being engaged in direct interactions with others does too.

REIAs will allow you to meet individuals from different walks of life with personal stories that could inspire in unimaginable ways.  For new investors, especially, there is a wealth of knowledge that can be gained from the experiences shared by others.  You’ll learn quickly that investing requires patience, hard work, and yes, sometimes even a bit of luck.   For the well experienced, it is a great place to go to continue to build your brand and maybe pick up a few new tricks to remain competitive.  After all, innovation and evolution are both critical to survival.

One word of caution, not all REIAs are created equal. Some focus very much on peddling new products like street hawkers at a tourist trap, but the really good ones should have you walking away feeling more knowledgeable of the real estate investment market than you might have been before entering its doors. Start by finding the closest group and then branch out to experience what other groups have to offer.  Bring your business cards and don’t forget to follow-up with the new contacts you make.

Happy hunting!
